Chord charts, tabs and YouTube tutorials in one lesson. Send per-student homework with due dates. Teach Mode shows the lesson live on a second screen in the lesson room.

Why guitar schools choose us

①

Tabs + chords inline

Upload a Guitar Pro file and students get playable tab right next to the video. Chord sheets with lyrics sit in the same lesson.

②

Video at the right tempo

Embed YouTube tutorials with loop points and tempo control. A hard solo becomes manageable for the student.

③

Repertoire over the years

Build a songs library that travels with your students. Lessons are reusable, teach a song once, the next student gets it just as smoothly.

Software for guitar schools in practice

Guitar lessons are almost always song-driven. A student walks in with a track they want to play, and you turn it into chords, a strumming pattern, a riff or a solo. The material for that usually lives scattered across tab sites, YouTube, Guitar Pro files and photos of the whiteboard. Musicdott is guitar lesson software that brings all of it together in one lesson per student, and takes care of your timetable and student records as well.

Tabs or chords? Both, in the same lesson

Beginners usually start with open chords over a lyric sheet; more advanced players work from tab for riffs and solos. You don't have to choose. With the chord editor you place chords exactly above the right syllable of the lyrics. In the lesson, the student taps a chord to see the shape. Song too high for the singer, or want an easier key with a capo? Transpose every chord at once.

For tab, upload a Guitar Pro file (.gp3 to .gp7, or .gpx) or MusicXML to a song in your repertoire. It appears as interactive tab with standard notation that the student can play back in the browser. Prefer Soundslice, or a PDF from your own lesson folder? Those work as blocks in the same lesson. Songsterr doesn't allow embedding, so a Songsterr link shows up as a tidy link card instead.

Chord changes and solos at half speed

The classic sticking points on guitar are the change from C to F, the first barre chord and that one fast run in a solo. Set a YouTube block to a slower playback speed with a loop over exactly those bars, and the student practises the passage you picked in the lesson rather than the whole song again. For their own recordings or mp3s there's the free slow down audio tool, with an A–B loop that keeps the pitch the same.

Unsure about a shape? Students can look it up in the free chord finder. For the first lesson on a new guitar the online tuner is handy too: chromatic, through the phone's microphone.

A song library that grows with your teaching

Every guitar teacher has a set of songs they come back to year after year: the first four-chord song, the first fingerpicking pattern, the first 12-bar blues. In Musicdott you build those into your repertoire. A song you have prepared properly once, with chords, tab, video and your notes, can be assigned to every new student who's ready for it, or to a whole group at once. Students see their own songs in the student portal, and each student can have a playlist of tracks from Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music or YouTube to listen to.

Practice tracking and homework for guitar students

Homework goes into the student's practice list as assignments, with a due date if you want one. At home they start a practice session with the timer and mark an assignment as practised, which earns XP and keeps a streak going. After the lesson you score each assignment on a fixed scale from “still needs practice” to “can apply it”, so you see progress over months instead of guessing. A student who gets stuck can send you a message with a short video through “Ask your teacher”, so you see what's going wrong instead of having to imagine it.

Many guitar teachers prepare students for graded exams with Trinity, RSL or another board. You can set the grade pieces and the technical work as separate assignments and follow each one. There's no exam-board integration; you set up the path yourself, the way you already teach it.

In the lesson room: Teach Mode

With Teach Mode you show the lesson on a second screen or TV in the room, paired by scanning a QR code: the chord sheet, the tab or the video, large enough to read from where the student sits with a guitar on their lap. You control what's shown from your own screen, and YouTube stays in sync when you pause or rewind. No more balancing a laptop on the amp.

Guitar school admin without the spreadsheets

On the admin side, Musicdott takes care of lesson scheduling with weekly recurring lessons and school holidays, student management and messages with students and parents. Running a guitar school with several teachers? The Manager add-on adds online trial-lesson booking, a waiting list and teacher hours for €19.95 a month.

Teach bass or ukulele too? See bass schools, ukulele schools and band schools. Plans are on the pricing page, every block type on the lesson platform page. Still moving everything off WhatsApp? Read why WhatsApp is not a student tracking system.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with my existing tabs?

Yes. Upload Guitar Pro files (.gp3–.gp7, .gpx) or MusicXML for playable tab, upload PDFs, or write chord sheets in the chord editor. Links to tab sites such as Songsterr can be added as link cards.

Can students play back Guitar Pro files in the browser?

Yes. Upload a .gp3–.gp7 or .gpx file to a song and it appears as interactive tab with notation and playback. Students don't need Guitar Pro installed.

Can I transpose a song for a capo or a singer's key?

Yes. In the chord editor you shift every chord up or down at once and add the result straight to a student's lesson.
