For bass schools

For bass schools serious about their students' growth

Basslines written out, tabs embedded, groove patterns running alongside the drums. One platform for full band work, not just isolated riffs.

Why bass guitar schools choose us

①

Basslines + groove context

A bassline alongside the drum pattern it sits on. Students see the relationship instead of isolated notes, fundamental to band playing.

②

Tabs + standard notation

Embed both TAB and sheet music in the same lesson. For the student who doesn't read notes yet, and for the one who already does.

③

Band coaching native

Works for group lessons where bass, drums, guitar and vocals come together. Assign shared content to a whole band; practice is tracked per student.

Software for bass schools in practice

Bass players sit between the drums and the harmony. Good bass teaching is about more than notes on a fretboard: it's locking in with the kick drum, knowing where the root and the fifth are, and feeling where a line breathes. Musicdott is software for bass teachers and bass schools that puts tab, notation, groove and video side by side in one lesson, and tracks each student's practice in between.

The bassline and the groove it sits on

A lesson in Musicdott is a stack of blocks. Put a GrooveScribe drum pattern directly above a bass tab, and the student sees and hears what the line is locking in with. Add the original recording as a YouTube or Spotify block underneath, and a song lesson is complete. For walking lines or fingerstyle exercises, a metronome block sets the starting tempo, so “slowly” means the same thing every week.

Tab and standard notation for every level

Upload a Guitar Pro file (.gp3–.gp7, .gpx) or MusicXML to a song and it plays back as interactive tab with notation underneath: useful for the student who's starting to read, and for the one who already does. PDFs from your own method, MuseScore embeds and Soundslice slices work as blocks too. A chord diagram block shows the chord tones on the bass fretboard, so a student learning to outline harmony sees which notes belong to each chord.

Home practice you can actually see

Set homework as assignments: a scale pattern, a groove, the chorus of a song. Students see this week's list in their portal, start a practice session with the timer and mark each assignment as practised for XP and a streak. After the lesson you score each assignment from “still needs practice” to “can apply it”, so you know which lines are really under the fingers.

To learn a line by ear, students slow a YouTube block down and loop the bar, or use the free slow down audio tool, which keeps the pitch the same. The free scales tool and online tuner help between lessons.

Band coaching and admin in one place

Bassists rarely play alone for long. Assign one song lesson to the whole band, where drums, bass, guitar and vocals each find what they need, while practice and scores stay per student. Teach Mode puts the lesson on a second screen in the rehearsal room. Scheduling with recurring lessons and holidays, student records and parent contact are all included.

From first riff to reading charts

Most bass students start with riffs from songs they love and only later learn to read. Musicdott lets you meet them where they are: tab first, then notation under the same tab, then a PDF chart from a real gig or a graded exam book. Because every assignment is scored over time, you can see when a student is ready for the next step, rather than moving on because the term says so. Students can also have a playlist of tracks from Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music or YouTube to listen to, which is how most bassists really learn to feel a groove.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine bass + drums in one lesson?

Yes. A lesson is a stack of blocks, a GrooveScribe drum pattern and a bass-line tab can sit side by side. Add the original track underneath and the song lesson is complete.

Can I show bass tab and a drum groove in the same lesson?

Yes. Blocks stack in any order, so a GrooveScribe pattern can sit right above a Guitar Pro bass tab, with the original track underneath.
